“You have got to start romanticizing your life. You gotta start believing that your morning commute is cute and fun, that every cup of coffee is the best you’ve ever had, and that even the smallest and most mundane things are exciting and new. You have to because that’s when you start truly living. That’s what you look forward to every day.” -Unknown
I once came across the above quote, I think it was a couple of years ago. It hasn’t left my mind since. If it made such a lasting impression on my, why haven’t I started to incorporate this in my life more? I don’t know, I guess I have no idea how to start loving and appreciating the mundane things more. It’s such a lovely idea though. I wish I was able to do this.
I decided I’m going to actively try to love the little things more today. Just today, to make this an easier task. It’s almost noon now, so I have the whole afternoon and evening ahead of me. I will update you before I go to bed.
UPDATE: It’s 10PM now and I’ve had a good day! Overall I found that I was more intentional with what I was and wasn’t doing during the day. I had an appointment in the afternoon, after that I got some lunch. I took my sports clothes with me because I had planned to go workout after lunch. A lot of times I get distracted and end up not having enough time for a workout, but today I was good and intentional with my time. I got a healthy quinoa salad for lunch, ate it in the car while listening to.. Ed Sheeran. Because, side note, I found out Ed Sheeran is releasing a new album in May. It’s an album that supposedly is very personal and non-commercial and I love that (can’t wait!).
My workout was hard, because I hadn’t been to the gym for 2 weeks. So, I found it hard to find the romance in it to be honest. Ha-ha. But, I was in no hurry, finished what I had to finish and felt accomplished after. I even had time to do some groceries and pick up some packages after.
My boyfriend is working an evening shift tonight so I’ve been by myself tonight. I’ve been wanting to do my eyebrows for weeks, and I finally did it. I’ve been dyeing my eyebrows for years but have never really thought about my technique. Tonight was different (because, today everything is exciting and new!) so I watched some tutorials before starting. I have to say, I couldn’t be happier with the result. If you’re looking for a good eyebrow dye, this is the one if you ask me.
So, all in all, I kind of got the hang of it? My day wasn’t as magical as the quote. But I definitely got some good things out of trying to live by it.
Btw, see those ruffled pillows in the picture above this post? I MADE THEM! I’m getting better and better at sowing on my little sowing machine. Yay!
